Regarding the latest aggression from Iran, Netanyahu said that “our warnings were 100% correct,” stressing that Israel will continue to protect its sovereignty and security.

In response to the landing of an Iranian drone from Syria on Israeli territory Saturday morning, the Israeli Air Force conducted the largest strike on Syria since the First Lebanon War, which included hitting a mobile Iranian control center.
Following the incident, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated: “I have been warning for some time about the dangers of Iran’s military entrenchment in Syria. Iran seeks to use Syrian territory to attack Israel for its professed goal of destroying Israel. This morning Iran brazenly violated Israel’s sovereignty. They dispatched an Iranian drone from Syrian territory into Israel. And this demonstrates that our warnings were 100% correct. Israel holds Iran and its Syrian hosts responsible for today’s aggression. We will continue to do whatever is necessary to protect our sovereignty and our security.”
The Israeli leader also said that he informed Russian President Vladimir Putin of Israel’s determination to continue defending itself against Iranian aggression from Syrian territory. “We agreed the security coordination between our armies will continue,” he said.
Russia backs the Assad regime and maintains a large military presence in the country.
Netanyahu also discussed the latest developments with US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.
“Israel is our closest security partner in the region and we fully support Israel’s inherent right to defend itself against threats to its territory and its people,” Pentagon spokesman Adrian Rankine-Galloway stated.
“We share the concerns of many throughout the region that Iran’s destabilizing activities that threaten international peace and security, and we seek greater international resolve in countering Iran’s malign activities,” Rankine-Galloway said.
