Wartime restrictions to shape Memorial Day ceremonies across Israel

Current restrictions limit attendance to up to 5,000 people in certain areas and, in other locations, to 1,000.

Memorial Day ceremonies at Israel’s military cemeteries will be conducted under wartime restrictions set by the Home Front Command, the Defense Ministry announced on Thursday.

As a result, some ceremonies may be recorded in advance rather than held live.

According to the ministry, official state ceremonies may be pre-filmed and broadcast on television and digital platforms if in-person gatherings are not possible, allowing the public to take part in commemorations remotely.

Current restrictions limit attendance to up to 5,000 people in certain areas and, in other locations, to 1,000.

Memorial Day honors deceased members of the military, police, intelligence, security, and prison services, as well as civilians killed in terror attacks and other hostile acts.

This includes Arabs, Druze, Bedouins, Christians, and other minorities.

The holiday begins on Monday at sundown, and final guidelines are expected to be issued shortly beforehand.
