The first major confrontation between the IDF and ISIS occurred recently. IDF footage shows Israel destroying the base of an ISIS-affiliated group.
The IDF released footage on Thursday of its Armored Brigade destroying an abandoned UN peacekeeping facility on November 27. It was being used as a base for a mortar attack on Israel by an Islamic State-affiliated group on the Syrian side of the Golan Heights.
In this video, tank unit commander Snir Tzurieli describes waking up one morning to hear that an elite Golani unit had been ambushed by ISIS. Tzurieli and tankists Avidan Turgeman and Sharon Angadia say they immediately understood how important and meaningful their task would be.
