Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed rejected a demand by a group associated with Black Lives Matter to stop city police training with Israel, saying that it benefits the city police department to continue the longstanding relationship. Briefing the media Monday on a closed-door meeting he held with the group the previous day, he mentioned the demand, stating flatly, “I’m not going to do that.” The Israelis have some of the best techniques in the world, he said.
Leaders of the Black Lives Matter movement prepared 25 written demands for the meeting, some of which the mayor said he would consider.
