WATCH: Iran’s ‘robotic revolution’ exposed – just two humans in tin foil

The expo, meant to highlight Iran’s innovations, instead turned into a meme factory, highlighting the gap between state claims and reality.

Iran’s recent attempt to showcase technological prowess at the 2025 Kish Inox Tech Expo on Kish Island has backfired spectacularly, becoming a global laughingstock.

A viral video from the event, held in mid-November 2025, purported to demonstrate “advanced humanoid robots” interacting with attendees.

However, eagle-eyed viewers quickly spotted the “robots” as humans in poorly executed costumes, complete with binary-pattern bodysuits, stiff mechanical movements, and heavy silver makeup that failed to conceal human features like blinking eyes and visible skin.

One performer was dubbed “Miss Data,” but the charade unraveled online, with Iranians and international audiences roasting it as emblematic of the regime’s over-the-top propaganda efforts amid economic sanctions and tech isolation.

The expo, meant to highlight Iran’s innovations, instead turned into a meme factory, highlighting the gap between state claims and reality.

As one X post summed it up: “Iran’s AI: Artificially Inflated Egos.” Ouch.
