WATCH: Survivors sing Israel’s future national anthem in liberated camp

On April 15, 1945, British troops liberated the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in Germany. Five days after liberation, the surviving 60,000 Jewish prisoners held a Shabbat service in the camp, singing with what little energy they had left the song that would become the national anthem of Israel, “HaTikvah” (‘The Hope”).
