WATCH: Students stumble on 1,600-year-old gold coin in Galilee

Last February, four ninth-grade students from Kibbutz Yifat in the Jezreel Valley were hiking in the fields when they spotted a gold coin on the ground. Immediately recognizing its significance, they reported the find to the Israel Antiquities Authority.

The 1,600-year-old coin symbolizes a dramatic moment in Jewish history when the Sanhedrin ceased to exist.
