White House hosts Israeli family devastated by Palestinian terror attack

Michal Salomon, along with her five children, visited the White House on Monday, several months after a Palestinian terrorist murdered her husband and other family members.

A young Israeli mother, Michal Salomon, was welcomed to the White House as a guest of Jason Greenblatt, President Donald Trump’s special envoy to the Middle East. The visit occurred just days before Congress prepares to advance legislation to staunch the flow of US aid dollars to Palestinian terrorists and their families.

Salomon became a widow in July when a Palestinian terrorist broke into her home on the Sabbath and stabbed to death her husband, sister-in-law, and father-in-law. The extended family had gathered together on the Sabbath to celebrate the birth of a new grandson.

Under Palestinian law, the terrorist and his family will receive a salary for life of about $3,120. When terrorists are eliminated during the course of their attacks, such salaries are inherited by their family members. To provide context for the extent to which such salaries incentivize terrorist attacks, the median salary for a Palestinian engineer is only $1,300 per month.

Greenblatt welcomed Salomon, her five children, and her father to the White House on Monday, tweeting, “Michal and her children escaped certain death only because of her courage.”

Officials such as Greenblatt support the anti-terror statute working its way through the legislature, titled the Taylor Force Act, which seeks to ensure that Palestinians do not divert US aid from social benefits programs to pay terrorist salaries.

Currently, terror salaries drain hundreds of millions of dollars from foreign aid coffers. The act is named in memory of Taylor Force, a former US Army officer and veteran murdered in Tel Aviv in a Palestinian stabbing attack in 2016.
