The White House has launched a new online “Media Offender of the Week” site to track news outlets that distort President Trump’s statements and spread misinformation.
Visitors to the site are greeted with ranked lists, color-coded labels, and detailed breakdowns of media missteps, all packaged as a government-backed system for monitoring “false and misleading” reporting.
The page opens with the banner “Misleading. Biased. Exposed.” and features a rotating weekly offender list alongside a sprawling “Hall of Shame” targeting dozens of articles across the mainstream press.
Some of the main “offenders” include The Boston Globe, CBS News, and The Independent, each flagged for stories the administration claims misrepresented Trump’s positions.
The broader list stretches across CNN, MSNBC (formerly MSNBC), The Washington Post, The New York Times, Politico, ABC News, Axios, AP, and others, with entries tagged under categories such as “Bias,” “Lie,” “Omission of Context,” and “Left-Wing Lunacy.”
A separate “Repeat Offenders” leaderboard ranks outlets the White House accuses of chronic misinformation, placing The Washington Post in the top spot.
The site also offers slideshow-style breakdowns of individual reports and a signup for weekly email updates tracking the “worst offenders.”
Notably, the White House briefly listed Fox News as an offender after misattributing a press briefing question to one of its reporters.
After the network objected, the page was removed and quietly restored with Fox deleted, which drew the ire of liberals who say it contradicts the administration’s push for “accurate truth.”
Since returning to office, Trump has continued his fight against the media that has now spilled into the courts, including a $1 billion claim against the BBC, while ABC and CBS have reportedly paid up to $16 million each to settle disputes with the administration.
This week’s edition of the “Media Offender” zeroed in on how major outlets handled a viral video released by six Democratic lawmakers and former military and intelligence officials that urged U.S. service members to refuse unlawful orders.
Left-wing news outlets immediately twisted Trump’s response to the video by claiming he had called for the lawmakers’ execution.
“The Democrats and Fake News Media subversively implied that President Trump had issued illegal orders to service members. Every order President Trump has issued has been lawful,” the White House wrote.
“It is dangerous for sitting Members of Congress to incite insubordination in the United States’ military, and President Trump called for them to be held accountable.”
