Yair Netanyahu slams Qatari emir as ‘modern-day Hitler’

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s son claimed Qatar’s influence is endangering Jews worldwide by fueling hatred through its funding efforts.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s son Yair blasted the head of the Qatari government as the equivalent to Adolf Hitler in a recent tweet, writing the Gulf kingdom is responsible for the explosion of antisemitic and anti-Israel hostility currently sweeping countries across the globe.

Qatar is the main force behind the unprecedented wave of antisemitism around the world, not seen since the 1930s and 1940s. Qatar is the modern-day Nazi Germany,” Netanyahu wrote on his X account.

In the fiery tweet posted Monday evening, Netanyahu charged that “every Jew around the world is in grave danger because of the decades-long vilification of Jews and the Jewish state by Qatar, fueled by the billions of dollars they pour into it.”

Netanyahu then added that “the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and his mother, Sheikha Moza bint Nasser Al-Missned, are the modern-day Hitler and Goebbels.”

The premier’s son has not shied away from controversy, often posting his unfiltered opinions on social media.

In November 2022, Netanyahu lost a libel lawsuit to former left-wing MK Stav Shaffir. Two years earlier, he lost a similar lawsuit to journalist Avi Alkalay.

Qatar has claimed to be a neutral mediator in ongoing talks to broker a ceasefire and hostage deal between Israel and Hamas.

However, Doha has long provided hundreds of millions of dollars in funding to the Gaza Strip, with critics saying the majority of those funds were used to pay Hamas members’ salaries.

The Gulf kingdom has historically maintained friendly ties with Hamas’s political leadership, including hosting now-slain Hamas head Ismail Haniyeh and senior terror official Khaled Mashal.

Qatar is one of the largest foreign donors to major U.S. universities, including Ivy League institutions.

Watchdog groups have said that Qatar uses its financial power to promote anti-Israel protests and ideology on campuses throughout the U.S.
