11 Palestinians detained, 10 still at large after forcing their way into Jenin camp

The Jenin camp has remained a central arena for Israeli security activity over the past two years.

Israeli forces are searching for about ten Palestinians who entered the Jenin refugee camp without authorization, as the IDF and Border Police continue operations in the area following what the military said was an uncoordinated breach.

According to military assessments, approximately twenty Palestinians who had previously lived in the camp entered the area to retrieve belongings left behind in their homes.

About ten of those individuals have not yet been located.

So far, forces have detained 11 additional Palestinians who entered the camp.

The IDF said it continues to conduct searches in an effort to locate the remaining individuals, while the circumstances surrounding their arrival are under investigation.

The Jenin camp has remained a central arena for Israeli security activity over the past two years. Following the removal of terror infrastructure, it has been held as a tightly controlled zone under the Menashe Brigade to prevent the return of armed groups.

The Jenin refugee camp has been under IDF control since an operation carried out about a year and a half ago as part of the “Swords of Iron” war.

During that operation, Israeli forces targeted terror groups that had taken control of the camp and carried out attacks from within it.

Since then, the military has prohibited entry into the camp. Despite the restrictions, the group entered the area early this morning without prior coordination.

Security forces, led by the Civil Administration, periodically carry out coordinated entries to allow Palestinian civilians to collect equipment and personal belongings left behind. In this case, the entry was not arranged in advance through those channels.

The IDF and Border Police remain active in the area as searches continue for additional suspects.
