14-year-old Israeli boy recruited as Iranian agent

Israeli teen arrested after he allegedly provided footage of Tel Aviv, including the area around IDF headquarters, to foreign agents.

An Israeli teenager was arrested recently after authorities discovered the boy was working as an agent on behalf of Iranian intelligence, the State Attorney’s Office announced Wednesday morning.

Prosecutors have filed an indictment in the Tel Aviv Juvenile District Court against the 14-year-old from central Israel, accusing him of carrying out paid assignments for hostile operatives, despite knowing that they were linked to Iran.

The teenage suspect has been charged with being in contact with a foreign agent, passing information to the enemy, obstruction of justice, and additional offenses.

Prosecutors say the matter began in April 2025, when the boy responded through a Telegram group to a job offer and agreed to perform tasks in exchange for cryptocurrency payments sent to digital wallets.

According to the indictment, the suspect was directed to spray graffiti reading, “We are committed to the alliance,” in several locations around Tel Aviv and on multiple vehicles.

In addition, the suspect recorded footage outside Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv and in neighborhoods in Ramat Gan and filmed the Tel Aviv skyline while identifying the location of the IDF’s Kirya headquarters.

Prosecutors further allege that the suspect was asked to help locate an apartment for rent near the Kirya in Tel Aviv. According to the indictment, he sent a photo of a rental unit and contacted several landlords in his area whose properties matched the request.

The suspect was also allegedly instructed to spray graffiti on the home of Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar and to prepare a video documenting the minister’s movements. Prosecutors said he told his handlers he could not complete that task because he was in school and would only be available during a school break.

During the period in question, the boy opened four digital wallets at the request of his handlers, which were used to transfer more than $1,170 in total as payment for the assignments.

After being questioned by investigators, the suspect tried to persuade a classmate to lie during his own questioning and falsely claim responsibility for transferring most of the money found in the digital wallets.

A gag order remains in place on the case, due to the suspect’s age.
