As the sun set over the Judean Desert, one of the Land of Israel’s greatest archaeological treasures stirred back to life. For the first time in nearly two millennia, the legendary palace-fortress of King Herod echoed once again with music, voices, and the spirit of Jewish history.
Hundreds of guests from around the world gathered at Herodium for the opening of the International Conference on Israeli Heritage and Antiquities in Judea and Samaria. Against the breathtaking backdrop of Herod’s monumental palace and tomb, actors, musicians, and pyrotechnics brought to life the epic struggle between Herod’s kingdom and the Bar Kokhba revolt, turning the ancient ruins into a living journey through Jewish history.
The unforgettable evening, attended by Heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu, US Ambassador Mike Huckabee, diplomats, and leading archaeologists, celebrated the revival of the biblical heartland. “Your heritage is also our heritage,” Huckabee declared, while Eliyahu said the event sent a powerful message to those who seek to erase the Jewish people’s ancient connection to the land: history is not being rewritten—it is being rediscovered, one stone at a time.
