‘A huge miracle’: Chabad family survives rocket strike on Samaria home

“It was a very big miracle. If it had caught us in bed [moments earlier] or a minute before, it would have ended completely differently,” the homeowner said.

A Chabad Hasidic family living in Samaria survived a potentially catastrophic incident overnight Monday when a missile targeted at northern and central Israel struck their residential home.

Thanks to what the family describes as an immense miracle, the strike resulted in zero casualties, despite causing massive destruction to the property.

The homeowner, Aviad Khalili, recounted the terrifying moments during an interview with Channel 14 on Monday morning. The force of the impact and the resulting blast wave left entire rooms shattered and reduced to rubble.

“We woke up to the sound of a massive explosion that shook the house,” Khalili recalled.

Emerging through thick clouds of dust and debris that immediately filled the room, the first sight he witnessed was the complete collapse of the structure above him.

“The entire room was dusty, and the whole ceiling fell right onto the area where I had been.”

Amidst the chaos of his crumbling home, Khalili’s immediate instinct was to check on his son, who was sleeping in a different room.

“I ran to my son’s room while he was sleeping,” Khalili said. “I saw that he was okay, and only then was I able to calm down.”

He emphasized how close the situation came to tragedy. “It was a very big miracle. If it had caught us in bed [moments earlier] or a minute before, it would have ended completely differently.”

“You cannot describe this feeling,” Khalili added. “You wake up in the morning in your own home, and suddenly it has turned into a war zone. We thank G-d that we are alive.”
