Israeli officials have warned foreign carriers to prepare for heightened volatility.
By World Israel News Staff
Amid rising regional threats and growing concern over a potential escalation involving Iran, major foreign airlines are continuing to take precautions and adjust their operations to and from Israel, with cancellations and schedule changes extending across multiple carriers and leaving passengers facing continued uncertainty.
Following KLM’s decision to suspend service indefinitely, the Lufthansa Group announced that all night flights to and from Israel have been canceled through Tuesday.
The group, which includes Swiss International Air Lines, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, and Eurowings, will operate daytime flights only during that period.
Some overnight flights that were canceled are expected to be shifted to morning hours, extending an earlier policy that had limited operations to daytime service through the end of the month.
Cancellations are also continuing at Iberia Express, which announced it is extending the suspension of night flights to Israel for an additional week.
The move adds to growing disruption in the aviation sector, as passengers continue to contend with uncertainty and last-minute changes.
On Wednesday, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines reversed course and announced it is canceling all flights to Israel until further notice, despite having previously said it planned to resume service later this month.
The airline had indicated it would restart flights on January 28 under a revised schedule but later said current conditions do not allow for a return to operations.
Israeli officials have warned foreign carriers that the security situation could enter a more volatile phase, urging airlines to factor heightened risks into their operational decisions as regional tensions continue to intensify.
