Amazon lifts restrictions on shipments to Israel

After imposing sweeping restrictions on shipments to Israel during the war with Iran, Amazon resumes services in the Jewish state, including shipping orders entered prior to the service suspension.

Online retail giant Amazon.com has fully resumed operations in Israel, lifting a suspension on shipments to addresses in the Jewish state imposed during the 12-day war between Iran and Israel.

In the middle of the war, Amazon delisted all items that had previously been marked as shipping to Israel, leaving Israeli shoppers — and those abroad — looking to place orders for friends and loved ones in Israel unable to make purchases.

The retailer also added a temporary message for users in Israel, announcing the service suspension.

“Due to local restrictions beyond our control, we cannot accept new orders or provide delivery to your area at this time,” the message read. “We will resume services as soon as conditions allow.”

On Tuesday, however, Amazon began resuming operations in Israel, gradually restoring the “ships to Israel” label to merchandise and shipping orders placed before the service suspension.

Amazon announced Tuesday that it has also resumed its free shipping deal for orders totaling over $49 with qualifying items.

But shoppers can expect significant delays, the company warned, estimating that new orders placed at the beginning of July will take roughly a month to arrive in Israel.

Air traffic to and from Israel halted completely for most of the 12-day war with Iran, with a limited number of repatriation flights authorized late in the war, alongside small numbers of outgoing flights.

Even now, a week and a half after a ceasefire was reached between Israel and Iran, most foreign carriers have yet to resume service in Israel, sharply reducing the flow of airborne cargo.

Some global shippers, including FedEx, have recently announced plans to resume cargo flights to Israel.

Despite the end of the Amazon service suspension, many items previously available in Israel have yet to be restored to the “ships to Israel” list, leaving shoppers with limited options.
