Committee Against Torture.The BBC’s Geneva correspondent summarized the findings of the committee, which reviews the issue of torture in countries that are part of the convention.The Geneva correspondent focused the report heavily on Israel without mentioning other countries with proven human rights abuses, including China, Turkey and Russia, which have seats on the committee.In addition, other countries that were meant to be the focus of the report—Albania, Argentina, Bahrain and Israel—were omitted, except for the latter, which was accused of having a “policy of organized and widespread torture and ill-treatment which had gravely intensified since October 7, 2023.”However, it was the BBC report, and not the committee, that made these specific statements about the phenomenon of torture in Israel.
