Senator Bernie Sanders accuses Israel of systematically killing and starving Gaza civilians, blasting President Trump for hosting Prime Minister Netanyahu in the White House.

Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders denounced Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a “war criminal” on Monday, and castigated President Donald Trump for hosting the Israeli premier in the White House.
Ahead of Netanyahu’s arrival to the White House for a dinner hosted by the president, the 83-year-old independent senator tweeted that the Israeli leader’s impending White House visit marked a “shameful day” for the U.S.
“Today, a war criminal under indictment from the ICC will be welcomed to the White House,” Sanders wrote, referring to the November, 2024 arrest warrants issued by the International Criminal Court against Netanyahu and former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant over the Israeli war on Hamas following October 7th, 2023.
Sanders also criticized former President Joe Biden for hosting Netanyahu at the White House, while decrying the Israeli government as being “extremist,” and accusing Israel of intentionally starving Gazans and “systematically” killing civilians in the coastal enclave.
“Trump, like Biden before him, has aided and abetted the extremist Netanyahu government as it has systematically killed and starved civilians in Gaza,” Sanders continued. “It is a shameful day in America.”
The Vermont senator last month castigated Netanyahu for Israel’s 12-day air campaign against Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs, declaring the military actions “illegal” and “unilateral.”
“Netanyahu started this war with a surprise unilateral attack against Iran, which has already killed hundreds of people and wounded many more,” Sanders said in a June 16th statement.
“This attack was specifically designed to sabotage American diplomatic efforts: Israel assassinated the man overseeing Iran’s nuclear negotiating team, despite the fact that further talks with the United States were scheduled for Sunday.”
“Whatever you think of the corrupt and authoritarian Iranian regime, this attack clearly violates international law and the United Nations Charter.”
