B’nai Brith Canada: Trudeau should apologize to Israel

B’nai Brith Canada criticizes the Canadian prime minister for accusing Israel of using excessive force against rioting Palestinians in Gaza.

B’nai Brith Canada said last week that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau should apologize to Israel for suggesting that Israel was using excessive force to prevent Gazans from overrunning the border fence with Israel.

Though Trudeau never mentioned Israel directly in a statement released last week, he did say that, “Reported use of excessive force and live ammunition is inexcusable.”

B’nai Brith, an organization that describes itself as committed to the security and continuity of the Jewish people, said Trudeau’s claims, which were a response to the reported shooting of a Canadian doctor working in Gaza, were based on “falsehoods.”

“Canada deplores and is gravely concerned by the violence in the Gaza Strip that has led to a tragic loss of life and injured countless people,” Trudeau said.

“We are appalled that Dr. Tarek Loubani, a Canadian citizen, is among the wounded – along with so many unarmed people, including civilians, members of the media, first responders, and children.

Doctor and activist

For his work in the service of the International Solidarity Movement, Loubani was arrested near Jenin in 2003 and deported from Israel.

While attempting to enter Gaza Strip, Loubani was arrested in Egypt in 2013 and in 2014 he was detained at Ben Gurion airport.

An Israel basher, Loubani has told the international media various lies, including the claim that Israel prevents medical equipment from entering Gaza.

“A great guy” was the way Loubani referred to a Hamas terrorist and paramedic.

Medic and terrorist

B’nai Brith noted that according to the Gaza-based Palestinian Information Center, the paramedic — Musa Abuhassanin — was a 36-year-old Captain of the Gazan Civil Defence.

Images of Abuhassanin’s burial present him in a coffin covered with the flag of Hamas. A Ramallah-based news site — Abn Watan — published Abuhassanin photos with him dressed in a uniform that has a camoflage pattern in the military-style .

Palestinian Press Agency published a picture of  Abuhassanin’s mother wearing a Hamas flag and standing in front of a portrait of her son who was described as a “sacred warrior.”

Loubani never admitted that the medic who came to his aid was in reality a Hamas terrorist.

B’nai Brith head seeks truth

“Any time that a Canadian is wounded abroad, it is a serious matter,” said Michael Mostyn, Chief Executive Officer of B’nai Brith Canada. “However, it is imperative that the whole truth comes to light.

“Was Abuhassanin really just a paramedic, or was he also undertaking more sinister tasks for the Hamas terrorist organization?”
