Dershowitz: Tucker Carlson making Republican party antisemitic, copying the Democrats

Prominent American jurist Alan Dershowitz laments Mamdani’s win in New York City, says Democratic party is fast becoming antisemitic, while warning of mainstreaming of antisemitism on the right.

American jurist Alan Dershowitz, a professor emeritus at Harvard Law School, warned Tuesday that the Republican Party is in danger of normalizing antisemitism, comparing the mainstreaming of anti-Jewish voices on the American right to the “streak of antisemitism that is now plaguing the Democratic Party.”

Dershowitz, a lifelong Democrat who bolted the party last year, has accused his former political home of embracing antisemitic bigotry, and in recent months pointed to the meteoric rise of New York State Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani.

On Tuesday, Dershowitz decried Mamdani as an “antisemite,” lamenting his win in the New York City mayoral election.

“The Democratic Party is becoming antisemitic, anti-Israel; it elected an antisemite as the mayor of New York.”

However, the 87-year-old constitutional law professor added that the Republican Party is also in danger of abandoning the political center and turning toward overtly antisemitic right-wing populism.

“The Republicans are trying to replicate it [antisemitism] on the right. Remember that the extreme right and extreme left always have one thing in common: they hate the Jews.”

“Stalin and Hitler in the 1930s disagreed about everything, except that they hated the Jews. Hitler killed six million of them, Stalin killed hundreds of thousands of them.”

Dershowitz excoriated right-wing podcaster Tucker Carlson, who has come under fire within the conservative movement over his recent interview with white supremacist and Hitler apologist Nick Fuentes, calling Carlson an antisemite.

“And now we are seeing a replication here in less extreme form. Tucker Carlson is an antisemite. He does not like Jews. He particularly does not like Christian Zionists who support Israel and support Jews. He doesn’t like Ted Cruz, and doesn’t like many other people who are supportive of Jews.”

“He has to be marginalized in the Republican Party, or else the Republican Party will suffer the same fate the Democratic Party is suffering.”

Citing William F. Buckley’s efforts to purge the conservative movement of antisemitism, Dershowitz said prominent Republicans must challenge Carlson, just as Buckley challenged Pat Buchanan in the early 1990s.

Buckley “called out Pat Buchanan, and I’m waiting for more Republicans like Bill Buckley to call out the Tucker Carlsons and the others who are antisemites.”
