Albanese posted a cartoon featuring antisemitic imagery to promote her latest report, which claims Israel is committing genocide in Gaza.

United Nations Special Rapporteur for the Palestinians Francesca Albanese posted an antisemitic cartoon on social media to promote a report accusing Israel of committing genocide in the Gaza Strip — the latest in a long pattern of posts in which she used blatantly antisemitic rhetoric and imagery.
Albanese has repeatedly shared anti-Israel and antisemitic content online. She has justified the Oct. 7 massacres as a response to “the Occupation” and claimed that the brutal murders, rapes, and acts of mutilation were not motivated by antisemitism.
Writing to her 1.2 million followers on Instagram, Albanese promoted her latest report to the UN, titled “Gaza Genocide: a Collective Crime.”
Albanese shared an illustration of hands holding a spiderweb spanning the globe, with money and military equipment inside the web. Antisemites have often used spiderweb imagery to depict supposed Jewish control of global networks, industries, and governments.
Despite the image clearly showing a spiderweb, Albanese’s office attempted to deny the antisemitic nature of the illustration. In a statement to The Times of Israel, her team claimed the cartoon “portrays a net,” adding, “We regret if it was perceived as” a spiderweb.
Albanese is currently facing a lawsuit in U.S. federal court over her statements claiming that American pro-Israel nonprofits are complicit in apartheid and war crimes.
In September, several Jewish organizations and Christian charities sued her after she falsely accused them of assisting Israel in what she alleges is genocide against Palestinians.
“If a racist antisemite gains a position of power and proceeds to abuse the public platform she enjoys in order to perpetuate lies about American religious organizations for their compassion toward and allyship with the Jewish people and the Jewish State of Israel by smearing them and calling for them to be blacklisted and sanctioned, she can and should be held liable for defamation,” said Rachel Sebbag, an attorney for the National Jewish Advocacy Center (NJAC)d.
