Detail in hostage video exposes Hamas starvation lie

The disturbing video shows an Israeli hostage clearly starving while his Hamas captors obviously are not.

A chilling detail in a recently released psychological warfare video showing hostage Evyatar David has disproved claims from the Hamas terror group that all Gazans are starving.

In the footage, David appears visibly emaciated and gaunt, prompting comparisons to Holocaust victims by many who viewed the video.

However, a single frame in the video accidentally revealed the truth about the living conditions of the hostages’ captors.

In the clip, a Hamas captor, who is mostly out of frame, hands David a single can of food, which the captive said constitutes his meals for the next two days.

The captor’s arm appears well-toned, and possibly even overweight — suggesting he is far from malnourished.

The text overlaid in the video claimed David is starving due to a lack of humanitarian aid in Gaza.

That narrative was disputed by a former hostage who emphasized that Hamas members have access to looted supplies and are eating well.

“In that tunnel just meters away behind an iron door, Hamas terrorists were feasting on meat, vegetables, fish and fruit,” said Tal Shoham, a former captive released earlier this year, in a video posted to social media.

“They had everything they needed, and they stole it all from humanitarian aid meant for Gaza civilians.”

Shoham, who was held alongside David for an extended period, described the video as “sadistic, intentional scenes of hunger used purely for propaganda.”

He said David has lost around 40 kilograms (88 pounds) since his captivity began and is now in life-threatening condition.

David “doesn’t have many days left, if no food is delivered immediately,” Shoham warned.

In February, the brother of a released hostage said that the captives were regularly starved by their captors.

All of the hostages “were starved. They barely ate, they barely drank,” Michael Levy, whose brother Or was held captive for some 16 months, told CNN at the time.

The Hamas terrorists holding the captives ate “chicken, meat – they had everything,” Levy continued.

The captors “even laughed when they saw [the hostages] looking” at their food, he added.
