DHS says woman shot by ICE agent was impeding officers while spouse filmed

Video footage from multiple angles shows the officer spinning toward the driver’s side window and firing three shots into the SUV.

A woman fatally shot by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent during a confrontation in Minneapolis on Wednesday has been identified as 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good.

Good, who described herself publicly as a mother, a wife, and a poet, was killed after allegedly attempting to ram federal agents with her vehicle during an ICE operation, authorities said.

The incident occurred after a day of escalating confrontations between ICE agents and a group of protesters, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

During a Wednesday evening press conference, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said Good had been “stalking and impeding” what she described as the agency’s lawful operations for several hours prior to the shooting.

“She chose to weaponize her vehicle in an attempt to kill or cause serious bodily harm to our agents,” Noem said, characterizing the incident as “an act of domestic terrorism.”

She added that this was one of three alleged domestic terrorism incidents involving ICE operations in Minneapolis that day.

According to DHS, Good was among several individuals who allegedly blocked a street with their vehicles to prevent ICE agents from moving their truck.

Authorities say agents exited the vehicle and ordered Good to move her SUV. Instead, she allegedly accelerated toward one of the officers, striking and pushing him with her vehicle.

Noem defended the agent’s actions, saying he was a seasoned officer who followed his training.

“He’s an experienced officer. He’s been in situations like this before. And he certainly has been out there and followed his training today,” she said.

Footage taken near the scene also captured a distraught woman who identified herself as Good’s wife. Sobbing, she told bystanders that the shooting was “her fault” and said the couple had a young child.

“They shot her in the head. I have a six-year-old in school,” the woman appeared to say in one video. “I made her come down here. It’s my fault. They just shot my wife.”

In another clip, the woman is heard shouting at federal agents, “Why did you have real bullets? She was yelling!” The agents did not appear to respond.

The Department of Homeland Security has maintained that the officer acted in justified self-defense and reiterated its claim that Good attempted to kill or seriously injure a federal agent.

Officials also said the woman identifying herself as Good’s wife appeared in multiple videos from before and after the fatal encounter.

The shooting has sparked intense public debate and condemnation from local officials and activists, while federal authorities insist the use of deadly force was legally and operationally justified.
