Exiled Iranian prince: Stop negotiating with Tehran terrorists

Prince Reza Pahlavi urged Washington to abandon negotiations and instead support Iran’s pro-democracy opposition movement.

Iran’s exiled Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi has urged the United States to immediately halt ongoing negotiations with Tehran, arguing that the Islamic Republic is using diplomacy to buy time, rebuild its capabilities and prepare for a future round of conflict.

Pahlavi, the son of the late Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, whose family was forced into exile following the 1979 Islamic Revolution, has long been one of the regime’s most prominent opponents. In recent months, he has intensified his calls for international support for Iran’s opposition movement, particularly following the wave of anti-government protests that began in December 2025.

In a statement marking the approach of the United States’ Independence Day, Pahlavi called on supporters around the world to demonstrate outside U.S. embassies in an effort to persuade the Trump administration to abandon negotiations with Tehran.

“Our message to the American people and government on their Independence Day is clear: Do not deal with terrorists. Choose the people of Iran,” he said in a statement urging global protests in front of U.S. embassies, aimed at pressuring Trump to halt negotiations, as quoted by opposition-affiliated outlet Iran International.

Drawing a parallel between America’s founding and the aspirations of anti-regime protesters in Iran, Pahlavi added: “Two hundred and fifty years ago, America chose freedom. Today, the people of Iran are also fighting for freedom.”

Pahlavi has consistently argued that diplomatic engagement strengthens rather than weakens the Islamic Republic by providing it with time, financial resources and international legitimacy.

Following the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Washington and Tehran earlier this month, he sharply criticized the agreement, warning that it would ultimately prove dangerous to the West.

A deal “with this regime will fail and we will all face the consequences,” Pahlavi wrote on Facebook shortly after the agreement was announced.

“The regime’s 47-year war against the Iranian people continues. Just as it has never made peace with its own citizens, it will never truly make peace with the world,” he added.
