Gaza terror group says fate of Israeli hostage unclear

Islamic Jihad announces that it has lost contact with the terror cell holding an Israeli man captive in the Gaza Strip, adding that the hostage’s condition is currently unknown.

The fate of an Israeli man taken hostage on October 7th is now unclear, a Gaza terrorist group has announced.

On Tuesday, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad organization said that it has lost contact with the terrorist cell holding Rom Braslavski hostage in the Gaza Strip, and that it is no longer aware of his present condition.

Braslavski, a resident of Jerusalem’s Pisgat Ze’ev neighborhood, was abducted on October 7th from the Nova music festival outside of Re’im in southern Israel.

A medic, Braslavski is said to have remained on the scene of the ongoing massacre at the music festival to tend to the wounded before he was taken hostage. He was 19 at the time of his abduction, and has since turned 21.

The announcement came after Israeli ground forces entered Deir al-Balah in central Gaza this Monday.

The Palestinian Islamic Jihad group said that it lost contact with Braslavski’s captors as a result of IDF operations in the area where he is being held captive.

In response to the announcement, Braslavski’s family issued a statement, demanding answers from the Israeli government.

“No one knows where Rom is: Not the IDF, and not Islamic Jihad. The only thing we knew for sure was that he was being held alone.”

“We want to know where our son is. We want those responsible to sit with us and relay the situation, not fragments of information or partial truths.”

“We are broken and in pain. We demand answers from our country about our beloved Rom.”
