Hamas forcing Gaza women to trade sex for food – report

Investigative report says Hamas terrorists exploiting Gaza women, forcing them to perform sexual acts in exchange for food, money, and protection.

Hamas officials in the Gaza Strip are systematically exploiting Gazan women for sex, according to a report published by the Daily Mail, which documented cases of coercion and extortion under Hamas rule.

The allegations include claims that some women were pressured into sexual acts in exchange for food, money or protection.

According to the report, widows and displaced women said they were exploited by Hamas terrorists during the war.

Some alleged they were blackmailed for aid, while others said they were abused after being left vulnerable by displacement, poverty and the collapse of normal social protections.

The Daily Mail reported that some women said they were “forced to have sex in return for food aid.”

Much of the testimony was anonymous, and the allegations could not be independently verified.

The report linked the allegations to wartime conditions that have concentrated money, aid and influence in the hands of armed groups and local power brokers.

The claims come amid broader reporting on sexual exploitation in Gaza during the war. In October 2025, The Associated Press reported that several women said they had been offered food, shelter, work or cash in exchange for sexual interactions.

The AP said that women feared reporting such abuse because of shame, retaliation and the lack of functioning institutions. Local psychologists and aid workers told the agency that exploitation was more common during the peak of the hostilities.

There was no immediate public response from Hamas to the latest allegations. Hamas has denied past accusations of sexual abuse in other contexts.

If confirmed, the accounts would add to growing evidence that the war in Gaza has left women exposed not only to bombardment and displacement, but also to exploitation by men controlling access to food, money and security.
