Heavily armed pro-Hamas Australian man arrested after praising Sydney Chanukah massacre

“100% support” – 39-year-old man from western Australia who lauded Bondi Beach massacre had thousands of rounds of ammunition and six guns, police say.

An Australian man arrested for illegal weapons possession and for praising the massacre of 15 Jews at a Sydney Chanukah event was charged on Wednesday in a court in western Australia.

The suspect, 39-year-old Martin Thomas Glynn, a resident of Yangebup near Perth, was brought before a judge Wednesday during his indictment at the Fremantle Magistrates Court.

The charge sheet includes racial harassment, illegal weapons possession, and failure to properly store firearms.

Glynn was arrested after police received a tip regarding his support for terrorism.

Prosecutors say Glynn had flags for the Hamas and Hezbollah terror groups, and that he had posted messages on social media lauding the terrorist shooting attack on a Chanukah party in Sydney left 15 dead and dozens wounded.

In one post, written on Instagram just hours after the Sydney attack, Glynn wrote that the December 14th mass shooting had his “100 percent support.”

Police found six licensed rifles at Glynn’s home, along with 4,000 rounds of ammunition which was not properly stored and a list of materials for assembling bombs.

During the court appearance on Wednesday, Glynn told Magistrate Benjamin Tyers that he had never planned to “harm anyone,” and downplayed his support for the Sydney massacre, claiming he was “opinionated” about the war in Gaza and that he was “hoping to raise the hypocrisy” with his Instagram post.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese condemned Glynn’s comments, saying there was “no place in Australia for antisemitism, hate, and violent ideologies.”

The Fremantle Magistrates Court extended Glynn’s arrested until his next court appearance, scheduled for February.

Western Australia Police Commissioner Col Blanch told reporters that Glynn is not believed to be part of a larger terror plot.

“We think this is an individual who has made these comments online, and we are still yet to assess the threat of that individual.”
