Former President Donald Trump, the presumptive 2024 Republican presidential candidate, is in “great spirits” this weekend, after being hospitalized following an assassination attempt that left him wounded in the right ear, his son said.
Speaking with Fox News late Saturday night, Donald Trump Jr. said that his father would not be deterred by the shooting attack that left one dead and three wounded – including Donald Trump – at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania Saturday.
“I just spoke to my father on the phone and he is in great spirits,” Trump Jr. said. “He will never stop fighting to save America, no matter what the radical left throws at him.”
Trump’s son echoed his comments to Fox News in a tweet, writing: “He’ll never stop fighting to Save America.”
The former president’s daughter, Ivanka Trump, tweeted her appreciation for the Secret Service agents who secured her father and rushed him to Butler Memorial Hospital after the attack.
“Thank you for your love and prayers for my father and for the other victims of today’s senseless violence in Butler, Pennsylvania. I am grateful to the Secret Service and all the other law enforcement officers for their quick and decisive actions today. I continue to pray for our country. I love you Dad, today and always.”
Former President Trump was admitted to the hospital overnight, but released within a few hours.
Eric Trump, the former president’s second son and vice president of the Trump Organization, called his father “the fighter America needs” after the shooting, adding “Never surrender!”
Tiffany Trump, Trump’s younger daughter, decried political violence in a tweet, while thanking law enforcement officers and Secret Service agents who responded to the incident.
“The outpouring of love and support for my dad is deeply appreciated. Thank you God for keeping my father alive. Political violence is never the answer. God bless the secret service and law enforcement who fearlessly intervened. Please include the families of the victims in your prayers. As you saw today, my father is a fighter and he will continue to fight for you and the USA.”
