Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem has hailed President Donald Trump’s emerging agreement with Iran as a “great victory” for Tehran, claiming it forced Israel to halt its military campaign in Lebanon and marked a “pivotal moment” for the country.
Qassem praised Iran for ensuring Lebanon was included in the US-backed deal and urged the Lebanese government to use the agreement to pressure Israel into withdrawing from southern Lebanon. He also rejected any negotiations over Hezbollah’s disarmament, insisting the terror group’s weapons are not up for discussion.
His remarks came as Lebanese President Joseph Aoun insisted Beirut’s talks with Israel remain separate from Trump’s regional agreement, while Israeli officials have warned the deal could strengthen Hezbollah by easing pressure on Iran without dismantling its terror network.
