US President Donald Trump reportedly grew increasingly frustrated with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a series of tense phone calls, as the two leaders clashed over Iran, Lebanon, and the direction of the regional conflict.
According to the report, Trump repeatedly pushed for a diplomatic agreement with Iran while Netanyahu argued that Tehran could not be trusted and pressed for additional military action. Trump also reportedly urged Israel to scale back its campaign against Hezbollah, telling Netanyahu, “Stop targeting buildings,” and warning that the war had gone on for too long.
Behind closed doors, Trump reportedly complained that Netanyahu “wants to bomb everyone” and questioned his judgment, while becoming increasingly concerned that a prolonged regional war could hurt the US economy. The report also claims Trump began seeking independent verification of intelligence presented by Netanyahu, underscoring what appears to be a widening rift between the two longtime allies as Washington presses ahead with its controversial Iran deal.
