Hundreds of NYC high school students receive antisemitic death threats

Teenage student arrested after allegedly sending antisemitic emails announcing plans for the mass murder of Jews at his Queens high school.

A New York City high school student was arrested this week after he made antisemitic death threats to hundreds of fellow students in an email threatening the mass murder of all Jews on campus.

The suspect is a 17-year-old student at the Renaissance Charter School in Jackson Heights, Queens.

New York City police arrested the teen on Monday after he sent out a message to hundreds of fellow students in which he cursed Jews while also announcing plans for the mass murder of Jews on campus and across New York City.

“At 2:00 we will all rise up and kill all the Jews in this school and city,” the suspect wrote.  “F*** Jews,” he added.

Investigators say the message was sent out during school hours, at 12:34 p.m. local time on Monday, using the school email address given to the suspect.

About 300 students received the email, authorities said.

School administrators called police shortly afterward via 911 to inform them of the death threat, and NYPD officers arrested the student several hours later.

“At a time when more than half of all hate crimes citywide are anti-Jewish, we are seeing a dangerous normalization of antisemitism,” said Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz.

“Our schools must remain places of safety and learning in the face of this alarming trend.”

“The defendant now faces serious criminal charges for allegedly threatening to kill Jewish students at his school and Jewish New Yorkers across the city.”

The suspect was arraigned in Queens Criminal Court on Tuesday on charges of making a terroristic threat as a hate crime, making a terrorist threat, and three counts of aggravated harassment in the second degree.

After the hearing, the suspect was released on bail.

If he is convicted, the suspect could face up to 15 years in prison.
