Iranian media reported Monday morning that the head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps intelligence organization, Majid Khadami, had been killed, and shortly afterward Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz confirmed that Israel was responsible for the strike.
“We eliminated Majid Khadami, head of the intelligence organization of the Revolutionary Guards, one of those directly responsible for these war crimes and one of the three most senior officials in the organization,” Katz said.
The Israel Defense Forces later released an official statement saying the Air Force carried out a precision strike in Tehran overnight that killed Khadami, who served as chairman of the Revolutionary Guards intelligence organization.
According to the military, Khadami was one of the most central commanders in the Revolutionary Guards and had accumulated extensive military and security experience over many years.
He was appointed to the position after his predecessor was killed during Operation Rising Lion in June 2025.
During the current war, Khadami was responsible for gathering intelligence used by senior Iranian leadership, and the intelligence he collected was used to advance and carry out terrorist operations.
He was involved in promoting attacks against Israel and Jewish targets worldwide and also took part in efforts to target American personnel.
In addition, he was responsible for monitoring Iranian civilians as part of the regime’s internal repression and efforts to suppress protests inside Iran.
In a separate strike overnight in Tehran, the military said it also eliminated Asghar Bakri, commander of Unit 840 in the IRGC Quds Force, who was responsible for exporting terror operations across the Middle East and was wanted by the United States.
Unit 840 is the Quds Force’s special operations unit and is responsible for advancing terror attacks against Israelis and Jews in Israel and abroad, often through recruiting local operatives or Palestinians from Judea and Samaria.
The killings are part of a series of strikes targeting senior Iranian military and intelligence figures and represent another significant blow to the command and control structure of the Revolutionary Guards and its ability to direct operations against Israel and other countries.
