The Israeli Air Force killed a senior Hezbollah communications commander in a strike in Lebanon on Thursday, targeting a figure the Israeli military said was involved in strengthening the group and advancing Iranian influence in the country.

The Israel Defense Forces said Hisham Abd al-Karim Yassin, a commander in the communications unit of Hezbollah and in the Palestine Corps of the Iranian Quds Force, was eliminated in the strike, which was carried out based on IDF intelligence.

According to the military, Yassin played a central role in maintaining and developing Hezbollah’s communications systems, which are used to coordinate activities across the organization.

The communications structure is responsible for ensuring operational continuity and managing the development, maintenance and use of the group’s communication networks.

The IDF said Yassin was also involved in efforts to rebuild Hezbollah’s capabilities following Operation Northern Arrows and worked to advance Iranian entrenchment in Lebanon.

Israeli officials said he carried out attacks under the direction of the Iranian regime.

The strike was announced Saturday as part of Israel’s ongoing military campaign against Hezbollah.

“This is the fifth commander from the Quds Force and the third commander from the Palestine Corps to be eliminated since the beginning of Operation Roaring Lion,” the IDF said.

Israeli officials said the operation targeted leadership figures connected to Iranian-backed militant networks operating in Lebanon.

The military said the action forms part of a broader effort to weaken Hezbollah following its decision to launch attacks on Israel.

“The IDF will continue to operate with determination against the Hezbollah terrorist organization following its deliberate decision to attack Israel on behalf of the Iranian regime,” the military said.

“The IDF will not tolerate any harm to the residents of the State of Israel.”

Israeli forces have continued operations against Hezbollah-linked targets as fighting between Israel and Iran-backed groups has intensified in recent weeks.
