The IDF announced Tuesday the elimination of a high-ranking Iranian official, Mohammad Reza Ashrafi Kahi, a senior commander in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Oil Headquarters.

The now-former head of commerce oversaw billions in oil profits that funded Iran’s well-oiled war machine.

The Israeli Air Force, acting on IDF intelligence, carried out the major strike in Tehran Friday, targeting the head of the IRGC’s Oil Headquarters.

Under Ashrafi’s command, this powerful unit evaded international sanctions to generate huge profits that kept Iran’s military well-funded.

According to the IDF, Ashrafi managed these commercial operations, estimated at generating profits that ran into the billions per year, that strengthened the IRGC’s military and funded Iran’s proxy terror groups across the Middle East, including Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis.

What’s more, the funds also powered Iran’s ballistic missile program and drone production and enabled strikes at oil production facilities throughout the region.

Ashrafi’s death closely follows the elimination of Jamshid Eshaqi, the commander of the Oil Headquarters of the armed forces, seriously undermining Iran’s ability to fund its war effort.

The IDF vowed to continue eliminating IRGC officials whenever it deems necessary.

“The IDF will continue to operate against commanders and leaders of the Iranian terror regime wherever necessary,” the military said.
