IDF unleashes retaliatory strike on Hamas, 1 dead

A Palestinian who was reportedly located near a Hamas post was killed in the strike on Saturday, which the Israeli military launched after terrorists in Gaza attacked Israel with a 10-rocket barrage.

Following major rocket attack on Friday night during which terrorists launched 10 projectiles into Israel, IDF airstrikes on pounded terror sites, killing one Palestinian and wounding two others, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry.

Gazan terrorists struck a house in the Israeli city of Sderot in an incident consistent with the Palestinian terror groups’ indiscriminate firing of rockets at Israel, which strike non-military targets and kill civilians.

The Palestinian rocket attack shattered a month-long lull across the volatile frontier.

Gaza’s Health Ministry said Ahmed al-Shehri, 27, died from shrapnel injuries during the Israeli counterstrike that continued through the early hours of Saturday.

He was among three men who sustained moderate or serious wounds from one of the airstrikes. Witnesses at Nasser Hospital in the southern city of Khan Younis said the three were sitting in an orchard adjacent to one of the Hamas terror group’s posts that was hit.

In a statement, the Israeli military explained that its planes targeted military compounds affiliated with Gaza’s Hamas rulers. The targets included weapons manufacturing and storage facilities, a naval base and a compound serving Hamas’ aerial defense array.

The army “views the rocket attack targeting Israeli territory with great severity and is prepared to continue operating as necessary against attempts to harm Israeli civilians,” the military said.
