Iran exposes 3rd underground missile plant

Iran continues to develop its weapons program, unveiling a new underground missile depot.

Iran announced the establishment of a new underground missile-production plant, defying warnings by President Donald Trump against such moves by the Islamic Republic.

Iran’s Fars news agency reported on Thursday that Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, Commander of the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) Aerospace Force, stated that their third plant is part of Iran’s thrust to develop its missile capabilities “forcefully.”

“It is natural that our enemies America and the Zionist regime (Israel) are angry with our missile program because they want Iran to be in a weak position,” Hajizadeh said.

Since taking office, Trump’s administration has put Tehran “on notice” and sanctioned hundreds of people in Iran and in Syria as part of a campaign to increase pressure on Iran.

Speaking on Wednesday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani blasted comments by both the US and Saudi officials against Tehran’s missile program, saying such statements reveal their ignorance.

“The remarks by the enemies of the Iranian nation against Iran’s missile power are out of ignorance,” Rouhani said.

“We need missiles and the enemy should know that we make everything we need and we don’t pay an iota of attention to your words,” he stressed.

During a summit in Riyadh, US and Saudi officials spoke out against Iran’s regional belligerence.

In January 2016, the IRGC unveiled its second underground missile depot.

This revelation came three months after a similar underground missile silo was exposed.

In recent years, Iran has made significant headway in manufacturing a broad range of military equipment, including long range missiles that can carry a nuclear payload.

Tehran has repeatedly claimed that its military might is “defensive in nature” and poses no threat to other countries. However, Israel believes Iran’s weapons are an existential threat.
