Iran will maintain its military forces in Syria, Iran’s top military commander declared in defiance of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s warnings to “get out of there fast.”

“The Islamic Republic of Iran will keep its military advisers, revolutionary forces and its weapons in Syria,” Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari, the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps top commander, stated, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

On Sunday, Netanyahu acknowledged Syrian reports of IDF bombings over the weekend. “Just in the last 36 hours, the Israeli Air Force attacked Iranian warehouses with Iranian weapons at the international airport in Damascus,” he confirmed.

At the ceremony Tuesday for incoming IDF Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi, Netanyahu discussed the “main factor facing us: Iran and its terror proxies. We acted responsibly and with discretion to stop those who seek to harm us from growing stronger.”

Referring to Iran’s entrenchment in Syria, he said: “I’m telling you, get out of there fast. We won’t stop attacking.”

“To defend our national home, we need a sobered outlook, a fit military force, the willingness to use that force, discretion and determination,” Kochavi affirmed.

Jafari called Netanyahu’s warnings a “joke,”adding that the Israelis were “playing with [a] lion’s tail,” ISNA reported.

“You should be afraid of the day that our precision-guided missiles roar and fall on your head,” the IRGC leader threatened.
