Iranian officer responsible for Hezbollah missile attacks killed in IDF strike

Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commander who helped coordinate missile attacks on Israel from Lebanon killed in Israeli airstrike.

Israeli warplanes struck a Hezbollah position in Lebanon this week where an Iranian officer involved in missile attacks on Israel was hiding, the IDF announced Thursday afternoon.

The strike was carried out Tuesday in Beirut, an army spokesperson said.

The bombing killed Abu Dharr Mohammadi, an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps officer who was serving as the commander of a Hezbollah missile unit operating out of southern Lebanon.

Mohammadi was a central figure in the military coordination between Hezbollah and the Iranian regime, the IDF said, serving as a liaison between Hezbollah and senior Iranian officials.

In addition, Mohammadi played a key role in building Hezbollah’s missile capabilities and worked to rebuild Hezbollah’s offensive capabilities following Israel’s incursion into southern Lebanon in 2024.

The IDF said that Mohammadi was an “influential knowledge hub regarding Hezbollah’s strategic weapons systems.”

Mohammadi helped build up Hezbollah’s missile arsenal and directed the terrorist group’s missile attacks toward Israel during the fall of 2024 and again in June 2025, during the 12-day Israel-Iran conflict.

“The IDF will continue to act with force against Hezbollah, which chose to join the conflict and operate under the patronage of the Iranian regime, and will not allow harm to the citizens of the State of Israel,” the IDF said.

Hezbollah terrorists launched some 200 rockets and missiles toward northern Israel overnight, the largest attack by the terror group on Israel since the beginning of the latest conflict between Israel and Iran.

While Israeli intelligence has previously indicated that the IDF had reduced Hezbollah’s combat capabilities by 70% prior to the latest strikes on Iran, the terror group still is estimated to possess at least 1,000 long-range missiles and tens of thousands of short-range projectiles capable of striking northern Israel.
