Iran’s unrealistic demands in 10-point peace plan revealed

Tehran lays out a 10-point draft peace plan, demanding that it be allowed to collect tolls from vessels using the Strait of Hormuz, the full lifting of American sanctions, and an end to the war in Lebanon.

Iran has drafted a list of conditions for a possible peace deal with the United States, including an end to the Israeli military operation against the Hezbollah terror organization and full sanctions relief.

The document includes 10 conditions ranging from American acceptance of Iran’s right to enrich uranium to the future of the Strait of Hormuz.

Among Tehran’s biggest demands is that the ceasefire, which went into effect early Wednesday morning, be extended to Lebanon.

Both President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance have denied that Israel’s conflict with Hezbollah was included in the ceasefire deal.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized in a televised statement Wednesday night that the IDF would not halt its operations in Lebanon.

Iranian officials have suggested that continued Israeli strikes in Lebanon could undermine the entire diplomatic track, while Vice President Vance has described the disagreement as a misunderstanding rather than a binding term of the agreement.

Tehran is also demanding terms over the Strait of Hormuz, including the right to charge tolls for passage.

Iran is also seeking sanctions relief, including the lifting of both “primary sanctions” and “secondary sanctions.”

Tehran’s 10-point response emphasized broader political and economic terms rather than a narrow military ceasefire, including lifting sanctions and support for reconstruction.

Another core Iranian demand concerns its nuclear program, including American acknowledgment of Tehran’s right to pursue some level of uranium enrichment.

While a document listing 10 Iranian talking points circulated by the Iranian Embassy in India drew widespread media attention, President Donald Trump said the list was not the same as the one actually under consideration.

In a Truth Social post Wednesday, the president said that despite lingering differences between the two sides, the new Iranian proposal was “reasonable” and was the “basis on which we agreed to a ceasefire.”
