“Is it possible that the PA is operating in Israel?” asked Likud Knesset Member Yehuda Glick, after learning that an Arab man wanted by the Palestinian Authority for selling land to Jews was found shot to death in the Israeli-Arab town of Jaljuliya.
PA Security Forces wanted Ahmad Salameh in connection with acting as an intermediary in the sale of Arab land to Jews. He was shot to death on Friday.
Glick said that the PA had killed him for his role in brokering land sales to Jews, a crime punishable by death under the PA’s legal code.
“Today he was killed in Jaljuliya within Israel as a result of gunfire. Do not be surprised that you do not hear Arab MKs who condemn it!” Glick tweeted.
Salameh lived in Jaljuliya, which is near the Israeli town of Kfar Saba. He was taken to Meir Hospital in Kfar Saba where he was pronounced dead.
Salameh was originally from the PA-controlled city of Qalqilya, but moved to Israel when he married an Arab Israeli woman, the Ynet news site reports.
Ynet said that Salameh, who was also accused of illegal arms dealing, denied he took part in land sales to Jews. On Wednesday, Israeli police had detained him briefly and then released him.
The PA’s laws regarding selling land to Jews has been in the news recently when another Arab suspected of engaging in such land sales was abducted and is being held in PA custody. The prisoner holds both Israeli and American citizenship and U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman has demanded his release.
Israeli police briefly arrested the PA’s so-called Jerusalem Governor Adnan Jit in connection with the abduction. Police said Jit expressed support for the PA’s death penalty for Arabs who sell lands to Jews.
