Israel’s Air Force responded to a rocket attack from Gaza and reiterated that it held Hamas responsible for all attacks emanating from the Strip.
The Israeli Air Force (IAF) attacked infrastructure belonging to the Hamas terror organization in the Gaza Strip late Sunday night in response to a rocket launched by terrorists at Israel’s civilian population earlier in the evening.
Sirens went off in southern Israel, and the rocket exploded in an open space in the Sha’ar HaNegev Regional Council, causing no injuries or damage.
Hamas, which rules the Strip, is held responsible by the IDF for any attacks or incidents launched from Gaza. No organization took responsibility for Sunday’s rocket attack.
In response, IAF aircraft attacked two Hamas military targets, one in the northern Strip and one in the center. No Palestinian casualties were reported. The targets were identified as a maritime police base and a military base.
“The IDF holds Hamas responsible and accountable for all attacks emanating from the Gaza Strip,” an IDF spokesperson said in a statement.
The IAF last attacked in Gaza on December 7 in response to two cross-border shooting incidents.
Since Operation Protective Edge in the summer of 2014, there have been multiple rockets attacks from Gaza, including 21 rockets that exploded in Israeli territory.
