Doctors without Borders: Slain Gazan terrorist ‘one of its employees’

After exposing the Gazan gunman’s affiliation with the medical NGO, Israel’s COGAT agency is asking the humanitarian organization for clarification.

Hani al-Majdalawi, the gunman killed by Israeli forces Monday after he charged the Gazan border fence, threw an explosive device and fired on IDF troops, worked as a nurse for the organization Medecins Sans Frontieres (Doctors Without Borders), said Israeli officials Thursday.

No soldiers were hurt in the attack.

After COGAT, the government’s liaison administration with the Palestinians, asked the international medical aid group “for clarification regarding the matter,” the organization announced Friday, “Doctors Without Borders (MSF) confirms that one of its employees, Hani Mohammed Almajdalawi, was killed in Gaza on Monday, August 20, 2018.”

The terrorist’s brother claimed on Facebook that his sibling, who was married, had “bought the weapon with his own money,” had acted “completely independently,” and had been “the most socially, psychologically and economically stable among his brothers,” said the report.

Gazan authorities have not confirmed Majdalawi’s death, it continued, as they haven’t received a body. Arab media have stated that Israel is holding onto it, for now.

Meanwhile, writing on COGAT’s Arabic Facebook page, its head, Major General Kamil Abu Rokon expressed shock about “how a person who has qualified to save human lives, buys a weapon to take away life? Whoever works to save people must provide humanitarian assistance in the Gaza Strip rather than be involved in terrorism,” he declared.

According to its website, Doctors Without Borders is an “independent, neutral, impartial” non-governmental organization that “provides medical aid where it’s needed most.” In the Gaza Strip, it runs surgical programs in two hospitals as well as burns and trauma centers that provide physical and occupational therapy as well as treating burns.
