Israel is breaking all the rules of history – Netanyahu

Prime Minister Netanyahu tells United Nations ambassadors that Israel is “very small but very powerful,” calls for formation of transcontinental alliance against Iran and Muslim Brotherhood.

Israel is “very small” but also “very powerful,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told United Nations ambassadors this week while calling for the establishment of a broad, transcontinental alliance to confront both Iran and the Muslim Brotherhood.

Netanyahu met with the delegation of UN ambassadors, led by Israel’s envoy to the UN, Danny Danon, at the Prime Minister’s Office in Jerusalem on Tuesday.

During the gathering, Netanyahu touted Israel’s accomplishments, turning the country of 10 million people into a major regional power.

“Today Israel is a very small country, but it’s a very powerful country,” Netanyahu said. “It’s powerful not only because of technology, that too, not only because of science, that too.”

“It’s powerful because of the spirit of the people. It’s powerful because we know that history is not going to give us another chance.”

Citing the restoration of Jewish national independence, the prime minister said Israel is “breaking all the rules of history.”

“There are so many miracles that a people can perform. Coming back from the dead, breaking all the rules of history, because you can’t come back from the dead, but we did.”

“And we are completely committed to protecting our future, ensuring a region of prosperity and security and peace, not only for us, but for all those who join us.”

Earlier on Tuesday, Netanyahu called for the establishment of an international bulwark, spanning Africa, Asia, and Europe, against what he described as the two major axes of Islamism: the Iranian-Shi’ite axis and the Muslim Brotherhood’s Sunni axis.

“We have a great interest in creating an axis of our own, an axis of countries that oppose both axes of radical Islam. This encompasses many nations.”

Netanyahu mentioned the visit by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi slated for Wednesday afternoon and hinted at India’s possible inclusion in the new alliance.

“Some are even visiting us these days; some we are visiting. I am talking about an entire circle that embraces the Middle East. I wanted to use the biblical expression, which is appropriate for Purim: ‘From India to Ethiopia.’ Pretty close. And everything in between and into the Mediterranean. A new axis.”
