Israeli officials are preparing for a possible renewal of military activity involving Iran after U.S.
President Donald Trump was briefed on new strike options by senior military leaders, while diplomatic talks between Washington and Tehran face uncertainty.
According to Channel 12, Israel is preparing for negotiations between Iran and the United States to collapse as early as next week.
Cabinet ministers were told the United States may need to “give a push” to gain leverage in disputes related to the Strait of Hormuz, potentially through strikes on Iranian gas, energy facilities and regime infrastructure.
Trump was briefed overnight Friday for 45 minutes on new operational plans for strikes against Iran by U.S. Central Command chief Adm. Brad Cooper and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dan Caine, according to two senior U.S. officials.
The briefing indicates Trump is weighing options to resume military action, either to break a deadlock in negotiations or to deliver a final strike before ending the war.
Three sources familiar with the matter said U.S. Central Command has prepared a plan for a “short and powerful” wave of strikes, likely targeting infrastructure, in an effort to shift negotiations.
Another plan presented involves taking control of part of the Strait of Hormuz to allow commercial shipping and oil tankers to pass, which could require ground forces, one source said.

Trump said Wednesday that a naval blockade on Iran is “to a certain extent a bit more effective than bombing.”
Two sources said he views the blockade as a primary source of pressure but may consider military action if Iran does not yield.
A senior U.S. official told Reuters overnight the war has effectively ended following the expiration of a 60-day period since it was declared to Congress, with no extension requested.
Lawmakers have disputed claims that a ceasefire period should not be counted under that timeline.
