The Israeli Air Force (IAF) attacked a terror target belonging to the Hamas terror organization in the Gaza Strip late Sunday night in response to two cross-border shooting incidents.

IAF aircraft attacked a Hamas military training base in the northern Strip. No Palestinian casualties were reported.

The attacks were carried out in response to cross-border shooting incidents, in which Gazan terrorists fired at IDF forces patrolling or working on the border fence, one incident which occurred on Sunday, and the second which occurred on Friday. There were no Israeli casualties in both incidents.

“The IDF will not tolerate any attempt to harm the security of IDF soldiers or of the citizens of Israel,” an IDF spokesperson said in a statement. Hamas, which rules the Gaza Strip, is held responsible by the IDF for any attacks or incidents emanating from Gaza.

The IAF last attacked in Gaza on November 24 in response to rocket fire.

Since Operation Protective Edge in the summer of 2014 there have been several cross-border shooting incidents, as well as multiple rockets attacks.
