Israel prepares for strikes on Iranian energy sites, awaits US approval

On Saturday, the Israel Defense Forces said it struck more than 200 Iranian regime infrastructure targets across Iran.

Israel is preparing potential strikes on Iranian energy facilities and is awaiting US approval, a senior Israeli defense official told Reuters Saturday.

The official said any Israeli attack on Iran’s energy infrastructure would likely take place within the next week, contingent on a “green light” from Washington.

The comments came as Trump escalated pressure on Iran.

On Saturday, the Israel Defense Forces said it struck more than 200 Iranian regime infrastructure targets across Iran, along with more than 140 Hezbollah targets in Lebanon.

In Iran, targets included a central Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps site used for storing a variety of weapons, facilities tied to the production, storage, and development of ballistic missiles intended to target aircraft, and IRGC air defense systems.

In Lebanon, the military said it targeted a Hezbollah training site, weapons storage facilities and launch positions, and headquarters belonging to Hezbollah’s Radwan Force.

Trump also issued a direct warning to Iran over the Strait of Hormuz, tying the threat of escalation to maritime access. “Remember when I gave Iran ten days to MAKE A DEAL or OPEN UP THE HORMUZ STRAIT. Time is running out – 48 hours before all Hell will reign down on them. Glory be to GOD!” he wrote on Truth Social.

The ultimatum sharpened focus on whether the US would take further action if Iran does not reopen the strategic waterway or support Israeli strikes on additional targets, including energy infrastructure.

The developments come amid ongoing exchanges between Israel and Iran and expanded Israeli operations targeting Iranian and Hezbollah-linked sites across multiple fronts.
