Israeli power station hit as Iran launches 5 missile volleys

Israelis forced to remain in shelters as Iran launches five separate ballistic missile volleys in a row, scoring a direct hit on a strategic power station in southern Israel, resulting in partial outages.

By World Israel News Staff

Millions of Israelis were forced to remain in shelters for an extended period on Monday morning after Iran launched five consecutive volleys of ballistic missiles, scoring a direct hit on a key Israeli power station.

The first wave of ballistic missile launches was detected at approximately 10:15 a.m., prompting the sounding of warning sirens across northern Israel minutes later.

Three subsequent volleys were detected, targeting central and southern Israel, followed by an additional attack on northern Israel, with the fourth volley targeting southern Israel alone.

Later, at 11:35 a.m., a fifth ballistic missile attack was detected, targeting northern Israel.

Thus far, there have been no reports of injuries, though several direct hits were reported.

The Israel Electric Company confirmed that a “strategic infrastructure facility in southern Israel” suffered a direct hit during the attacks, leading to some power outages in southern Israel.

Roughly 10 ballistic missiles were launched over the course of an hour, with a brief respite between the fourth and fifth volleys.

The IDF reported that only six or seven missiles were fired during the first four barrages, contradicting earlier claims of 10 to 15.

The attacks temporarily disrupted air travel to and from Israel, after the Israel Airports Authority permitted the resumption of limited outbound air travel from Ben-Gurion International Airport, the country’s largest airport.

Only a limited number of outbound flights have been approved, and strict limits on the flights – including capping the number of passengers per flight to 50 – have been imposed.

Following the Iranian ballistic missile attacks on Israel, multiple airstrikes were reported in and around Tehran, including against military facilities in the north and west of the city.
