IDF hits 6 Iranian airbases, prevents ballistic missile attacks on Israel

Multiple missile launchers aimed at Israel were destroyed in IAF strikes, as IDF bombs six Iranian airbases destroying much of Iran’s American-made air fleet.

Israeli aircraft bombed six Iranian airbases overnight and destroyed multiple ballistic missile launchers aimed at Israel, likely reducing the scope of Iran’s latest attack on the Jewish state.

Warning sirens sounded across much of Israel just after 3:00 a.m. on Monday after a missile launch was detected in Iran.

Only a single ballistic missile was launched, however, after Israeli warplanes destroyed multiple launchers as they prepared to fire.

No injuries or damage were reported in Israel.

A single Israeli Hermes-type unmanned aircraft was shot down over Iran, the IDF said.

According to an army spokesperson, more than 15 Israel Air Force jets carried out strikes guided by intelligence gathered by the IDF Intelligence Directorate in the Kermanshah region of Iran.

The strikes managed to destroy several surface-to-surface missile launchers and missile storage depots.

The IDF continues to intensify its attacks on the military capabilities of the Iranian regime and will continue to act to maintain air superiority to safeguard the security of the State of Israel.

In addition, Israeli combat drones struck six airfields across Iran, targeting the remainder of Iran’s aging American-made air fleet.

Before the overthrow of the Shah during the Islamic Revolution of 1979, Iran’s military was equipped primarily with American-made arms, including F-14 Tomcat interceptor aircraft.

At least 15 Iranian fighter jets and helicopters were destroyed during the strikes, the IDF said, with attacks in western, eastern, and central Iran.

The strikes targeted runways, underground hangars, a refueling aircraft, and aircraft, including American-made F-14 Tomcats, F-5 Tigers, and AH-1 Cobra helicopters.

The IDF claimed that in addition to destroying Iranian military aircraft, the strikes “disrupted takeoff capabilities from these airfields” and “impaired the Iranian military’s ability to operate its air power from them.”
