Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz’s warning that “Tehran will burn” was fulfilled after the IDF struck the Shahran oil depot.

Early on Saturday, Katz posted on X, “If [Iran’s leader Ali] Khamenei continues to fire missiles at the Israeli home front, Tehran will burn.”

His posts commented on a series of Iranian missile attacks in Israel that left three people dead and dozens more wounded.

Israel struck the Shahran oil depot and an oil tank near Tehran on Saturday evening.

As a continuation of his earlier post, Katz then wrote: “Tehran is burning.”

According to IRNA, the Shahran oil depot is positioned in the northwest of Tehran, while the affected storage tank is located in the southern part of the city.

Operational and emergency response teams were dispatched to the scene, and Iranian media claimed that the situation was “under control.”

Israel’s military also struck Iran’s South Pars gas field, the largest in the world.

Video footage shared on social media and geolocated by CNN showed a massive fire and thick smoke billowing from a gas field in Iran’s southern Bushehr province.

Israeli Air Force fighter jets carried out operations deep inside Iranian territory, targeting and destroying numerous missiles and launchers that were reportedly intended for attacks on Israeli civilians.

On Saturday, the Israel Defense Forces announced that the precision airstrikes had effectively disrupted planned assaults, preventing future missile launches aimed at civilian areas in Israel.

The IDF released footage showing the destruction of surface-to-surface missiles in western Iran, demonstrating the efforts to reduce Iran’s capabilities to attack Israeli civilians.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian warned on Saturday that continued Israeli strikes would bring a “more severe and powerful response” from Tehran, AFP reported.

“The continuation of Zionist aggression will be met with a more severe and powerful response from the Iranian armed forces,” Pezeshkian said during a phone call with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, according to the Iranian presidency.
