In a landmark move reflecting broad national support, the Knesset overwhelmingly passed a resolution on Wednesday affirming Israel’s historic and legal right to Judea, Samaria, and the Jordan Valley.
The symbolic measure—approved 71–13—declared Israel’s ownership over these areas.
“The Land of Israel belongs to the people of Israel—yesterday, today, tomorrow, and forever,” declared MK Simcha Rothman (Religious Zionism), one of the lead sponsors of the resolution, following the vote.
The proposal emphasizes the deep Jewish roots in cities such as Hebron, Shechem, Beit El, and Shiloh, located in Judea and Samaria.
These communities, the resolution affirms, represent the unbroken spiritual and historical connection between the Jewish people and their land.
Though mainly symbolic, the resolution sends a clear political message and urges the Israeli government to move forward “as soon as possible” with the application of full Israeli sovereignty and governance across all Jewish communities in Judea, Samaria, and the Jordan Valley.
MK Dan Illouz (Likud), speaking during the debate, said, “Judea and Samaria are not bargaining chips—they are the heart of our ancestral homeland.”
Illouz added that applying sovereignty “will lead to victory, security, and moral clarity not only in Israel but throughout the world.”
The resolution directly addresses the security and moral implications in the aftermath of the October 7 Hamas massacre, stating that the idea of establishing a Palestinian state has proven to be a strategic threat and has now been decisively rejected.
Yisrael Ganz, head of the Binyamin Regional Council, praised the vote as “clear and undeniable evidence of the national will to realize our values and our right to our land.”
He called on the government to follow through, saying, “We are at a historic juncture. This is the time to act.”
The vote, while declarative, is viewed as a significant milestone in Israel’s ongoing effort to solidify its presence and future in Judea and Samaria.
